Judge my PC! I want this one to last as long as possible.

SleathX1

This is a long-awaited upgrade from an Athlon 750k and GTX 750 Ti. This is going to be my build all throughout college (and more) so it needs to last me about 3-4 more years.

The hardest-to-run game I play is BF4 and Battlefront, and I'd like to run them at 100+ FPS at 1080p.

Yes! Lower is obviously better, also.

But several items have gone on sale over the past few months and that brings the total down to around $1200. I will wait for each item to go on sale when I'm ready to buy everything.

I'm going to play tons of other games, but BF is definitely the hardest to run on my current PC.

Another thing about this build is that I want to make it very aesthetically pleasing. I plan on doing all-white parts and then have blue LEDs to make everything blue. It's gonna be sexy!

What? Seagate Barracudas are the best HDDs out there besides WD Blues.

If the hard drive is the only thing you would change, then I think I'm set xD

Well Blackblaze can suck it, because I've had my Seagate 1TB in my current PC for just over 3 years. And my parents' PC has a 500GB Seagate with all kinds of family photos and videos, and it is almost 10 years old. 10 YEARS!

Dude, relax, a statistic like that doesn't mean your hard drive will fail, it just means it's more likely. Besides, HGST is Hitachi.

This is what I don't get about this chart, only the Seagate 3TB drive has the ridiculously high failure rate.  The 4TB is even lower than WD drives and the 1.5TB is only a few percent higher than the WD 3TB.  So should this chart tell you to just avoid the 3TB, plus it doesn't even have any 1TB or 2TB drives on the chart which are by far the most popular drives for consumers.

I know Linus has already covered that this chart means nothing for the average consumer, but I just so annoying that I keep seeing it pop up.

Barracudas are good drive. Unfortunately the ST2000DM001 model has many more problems than other 2TB drives.

There is no proven correlation between Backblaze intense write NAS arrays and the average gaming desktop. Using hdd designed for consumer use in an enterprise environment does not tell us a thing about how well those drives will do in the environment for which they were designed.

@SleathX1, a few suggestions. Consider a Skylake build. It is newer tech and will have a longer supported life. Cut back on memory. A 2x4GB kit is more than enough and the motherboard can handle an upgrade should that ever prove necessary.

Since you want a blue theme, I suggest an ssd that is complimentary.

A different gpu so there is no color clash.

EVGA has a white individually sleeved cable set for G2 psu.

Yeah I see that a Skylake build is possible for me, but I don't see the point at all. Performance gains are within single percents, and Z170 doesn't have any features over Z97 that I would use. Z97 is the tried and true chipset in my opinion.

The EVGA sleeved set is literally $90, the three sleeved cables that I would get are a total of only $30. The tiny amount of red on the MSI card isn't a problem IMO. Besides, I can paint it if I really don't like it.

You also had to get rid of the Cooler Master cooler, which I prefer over the H100i because of this video, and also my Fractal R5... I'm definitely getting that case lol :D
