Hey guys,

I am currently building myself a computer but when I go to turn the power on, the fans and water pump start, but it won't start posting. I have checked the motherboard and memory which are both confirmed as working. The processor was found to be faulty and was replaced under warranty. I thought that this would be the end of it but when I got home it still wouldn't post. I have tried clearing CMOS, re-seated everything, tried different memory positions and so on, to no success. Is it possible that the power supply is causing this?

My components are:

MSI Z170a Gaming M5 motherboard

Intel i5 6600k

Two 8GB Sticks of Kingston HyperX DDR4 2400

EVGA Supernova G2 750w 8o+ Gold

Corsair 750D Airflow edition

I only got the parts two days ago.

Thank you for any help.

The first system I built I did this same thing.

and I also had the same PSU and it turned out to be one of the fans I some how plugged in improperly.

I also had a pc do this becouse the 8 pin CPU cable was not seated properly. I recommend taking all your cables off and reinstalling them.

All of the fans are plugged in correctly, and atm I don't have a graphics card (poor student). And what are the odds that I get two faulty cpus in a row?

I have been building PC for over 5 years and have built hundreds and in that time I have had 1 bad CPU.

what cooler are you useing?

Ive almost never heard of a CPU being DOA (s**t happens, but it's pretty rare)

If you're able to test the computer out with a different PSU, I'd try that first.

My nest guess would be faulty ram/ram slots.

Honestly, take this step by step. TBH Id probably blame the mobo or ram before I blamed the PSU on this occasion, however PSUs are known to be the biggest problem causers.
