Hi guys is it worth getting the Uber version of the magni 2 and modi 2 over the normal ones?

I only want the DAC so I can have the same sound quality no matter what system I am using(I play at csgo/css lans where there is sometimes some sponsored pc with really bad sound in them)

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Unless you plan hooking up more than one source to the Modi the Uber version is not worth it.

The Magni is a bit more debatable. Allegedly, the Uber version has better gain control and the power delivery is also supposed to be better designed.

I have not seen any blind tests done between the Uber and non-Uber, but I doubt that there will be a noticable difference between the two.

The Magni Uber also has pre-amp outs, so if you plan on using powered speakers, that is pretty neat.

The Magni 2U is more powerful and has preouts for speakers. The Modi 2U has more inputs but requires wall power. The Magni Uber IMO is worth it, Modi Uber isn't unless you desperately need multiple inputs.

The Uber stack is $300. With that price difference you could upgrade from HE-400i to HE-560 and a Magni 2.

I am most interested in the amp, the dac is really just something I will use when I am at lan. I would go with a used O2 Odac combo for like 130$, but people are saying they have a bit harsh sound.

Who can say. I don't tend to get bogged down in the audible differences between gear because it is so small, bordering on imaginary.

I guess that I should just get the o2 and odac combo then.

If you want. Personally I would prefer a Schiit amp, not bother with a DAC. Maybe save for the DAC later.

So get something like a magni 2...
