I think many, many people have this problem.
'Well I gave it after I got windows 7 64 bit (SP1).
What data to give you? Jack's is well placed, sound card has no problems on Windows XP went perfect.
Drivers installed in place, all are ok (if required ss sites, reply)
Name motherboard: Asus P5L-MX
Sound Card name: C-Media CMI8738 / C3DX

I looked driver for windows 7, but have not really found.
Below right, it appears to me, I got sound, and when I put music grows green thing goes up. But unfortunately no sound from my PC (I tried and headphones).

How can I fix this so annoying?

PS: I used 5 programs to find drivers.

but I used all driver programs, and everything is alright with drivers.

nothing missing

If that was the case your sound would be working........

You need the SoundMAX ADI Audio Driver for that motherboard.  Get it here - https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/P5LMX/HelpDesk_Download/

Choose Vista 64 bit as your OS (Will work with Win7) and expand the audio section, download the first option.

how exactly do manage to get all drivers installed when you can't find them?

Windows XP drivers don't  work with Windows Vista and later.

At the very least try to find Windows Vista drivers

otherwise resort to using onboard sound or over HDMI/DisplayPort if you have a modern GPU
