My 780ti is unstable in games that are heavy on vram for example rainbow six siege and gta v.

The display driver has crashed a few times, especially in VRAM demanding games (ie next gen) such as Rainbow six siege and GTA V. I underclocked the memory on the GPU in MSI Afterburner wby 250 mhz. According to a friend so this equals to a 1000 mhz underclock. I've run with the clockspeed for 2 weeks and I haven't crashed once. I also got a driver update while i was testing my GPU, (NVIDIA 361.96). A few days ago so I updated the driver and decided to try stock speeds again. Rainbow six crashed while in the history of GTA V was TDR errors and display device lost or otherwise (would definitely crashed, that's exactly the error I get). I underclocked the memory 1000 mhz again and the errors are gone.

I always run on the latest drivers NVIDIA launches. Windows is updated and I also used the DDU to install display drivers again. Nothing helped me except the underclock.

Would this be a valid reason to RMA?

My card doesn't crash in benchmarks, not even the 4k 3dmark firestrike benchmark that uses all 3 gigs of my gpu vram.

Thanks.

How far is your CPU overclocked because if it is overclocked quite a bit it might be your PSU letting you down with either voltage ripples because of the high power drawl or because of it just not delivering sufficient power.

Could you still maybe try to run something like prime95 while running a gpu stresstest like msi-kombustor (try the furry PQTorus test).

What would be the outcome of a healthy gpu vs one thats not working properly? Would the programs just crash?

Well, if the powersupply were to be the problem (wether it be voltage or plain power problems) it would crash or show problems compared to it just being normal and running everything.

I've got limited time so I dont think ill be able to test that. However, it shouldn't really matter that much because underclocking memory doesnt equal less power consumption right (correct me if im wrong). Before underclocking the vram, I actually did the core -50 mhz and no luck on that, so im guessing this isnt a PSU problem.
