Bottleneck or not?

This.

a FX-8300 will be able to achieve 90% of the same clock speed as a FX-8370 and the price difference can be ~$50 or more depending on the deal/location.

That's if you can OC. If not, then it might be worth 15 more dollars for more bas clock/more turbo.

Hello guys. So i got a new Graphics card... and i get like 90 FPS in Counter Strike Global Offensive on very low settings.

my setup is

Amd Athlon(tm) II X4 640 @ 3ghz

8GB Ram @1600mhz

Asus M5A97 Mainboard

and the new Graphics Card.

Gigabyte Radeon R9 390 8192MB GDDR5 @ 6000MHz and Gpu Clockage at 1025 MHz.

So my question is. Is my cpu a bottleneck for my Gpu ? Like mentioned above i only get like 100 FPS in CSGO and get like 55 FPS in Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain with all settings on ultra.

I'd be glad if someone could help me.

Thanks

Yes, your cpu is a major bottleneck. An R9 390 is capable of 300fps~ in csgo with ease.

So this means the cpu cant deliver enough information to the Gpu ? ( 512 bit memory connection) I want to understand what the major problem is. So do you think getting a FX- 8350 will fix the problem?

You are right in that the CPU is too slow to take advantage of the GPU's power.

Get the best Vishera FX chip you can for your socket.

It's just so slow for game calculations. FX-8350 will help a lot. But ask others for better options. And my local retailer gives Hitman codes with FX-8/6 processors and R9 GPUs, yay!

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

Well, you have two choices. Either go for an FX8320 or do a full upgrade to something like a Xeon E3 1231v3 and an H81/whatever board you want. AN FX8 will hold you back in some games, but will be much cheaper since you already have a good motherboard for it.

So you say i should go for the FX8320 instead of the FX8350?

An FX8350 is just an overclocked 8320, so whichever is cheaper.

I actually dont want to OC my Cpu because i want to have my warranty. If smth happens and my Cpu is overclocked i'll be f***** :D. So the 8350 is the one i'd go with is that okay? Which cooler should i get for it.. I know that the Boxed Coolers are worse than a Airport full of ArmyJets... on 5 square meters....

What do the others say? Should i go 4 the Intel Cpu's or should i stick to my Amd?

If you're not going to overclock, then I'd try to sell your current board and cpu and pick up an i5 (or a Xeon E3 1231v3) and literally any MSI, Gigabyte, Asrock, or Asus board. The i5 route will cost $230~ while the Xeon route would be like $300~. Both will yield similar-ish performance with the Xeon having an advantage in certain newer AAA titles. Going forward the Xeon will likely prove advantageous, but how advantageous is really yet to be determined (I personally wouldn't expect a Xeon to be able to handle a game that an i5 couldn't unless the game was a horribly unoptimized mess to begin with -- again, to be clear, this is my GUESS).

Technically it does (at least with Intel cpus), but you can always reset the overclock and Intel usually won't care.
