I think my pc get's a little bit to old(7 years old dual-core, old motherboard...), so i want to upgrade my CPU and my motherboard.

I have searched a lot and this is the CPU i will take( If u know another one gooder then this at aprox. this price, tell me)

-Amd Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition it's has 6Mb's of L3 Cache,  2Mb's of L2 and I saw  people OC this thing to 4Ghz .

Of course now I don't know what motherboard should I pick ? I want it to be cheap (60-70 bucks) and still to be able to OC this little phenomenal "beast" .

My budget is around 200 bucks for CPU and MB.

Oh yah, will it run with an 500W PSU(I allready have an ~100W  Radeon HD7770)?

Thanks and have a good one! :D

Think like this. Its an oversimplification but....

New CPU's perform better yes

Dualcore 2.0ghz 4 years ago, VS  Dualcore 2.0ghz from today.

Todays will be faster, with each generation, comes more instructions per clock. Meaning at the same clockspeeds, it can get more done.

I've seen dualcore i3's, smash older quads in almost all things general usage and gaming.

Build a new system, even a cheap system has the generational improvements that would smash an older system.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Then looking for a 2nd hand machine that is more modern than what you have is great, but a decent step up is needed or you'll just hit the same problems sooner.

Save/Scrape or Bargain, good deals are out there, and some 2nd hand bargains can be had, wish you the best of luck.

FTR - AMD 955, plus an SSD, 4-8GB ram, would do wonders for you...

I added an SSD because it really makes up for the rest of the system, you'll get responsiveness back you thought was lost forever.

My specs:

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 OCed to 2.8Ghz

Mobo: MSI G41M-P26

GPU : MSI R7770 PMD1GD5

RAM: 4Gb 1333Mhz (Runing on 1066, i can't go more..)

I use Asus M4A890GTD PRO/USB3 for my 965BE. Pretty much any Asus/MSI board would be good.

I agree with the suggestions above, you should try to save up some more cash as $200 doesn't go that far with PC upgrades, especialy on older systems, but in any case the 965 will be a nice CPU for you.

Thanks for the reply man. I think this is the best mobo in this price range, I'm talking about "Asus M5A78L-M LX V2"

It has: -Core Unlocker

           -Tubo Key

           - 8 channel HD audio

Now i will look on youtube on the bios if you can change the Vcore.

This is off topic but in some forum there is a rule not to quote the previous post as it's pointless if you're reading. Those forums don't have notifications though. And to the op the phenom is a nice chip does light gaming but it's outdated, maybe a 6 core FX, not much more expensive if at all. (@Catalin Ionut lonut

Well yeah--it's different for this forum as you probably already know.

Yeah, I can't keep track of my posts if I'm not quoted or mentioned. I just thought it could be confusing if you're familiar to those kinds of forums
