DDR3 8gb x 2 = 16gb @ 1600hz................CPU i7 860.............Biostar MOBO VGA 1156 socket

So, here is the deal. I have tried all the ram configurations. I can only get dual channel RAM in one confrig......dim slot 2 & 4 both color coded red. However only 8gb of dual channel RAM is available see below56cd90018e06f_specsdualchannel.jpg.68d7a

However if I switch the ram to slot 3 & 4 task manager shows and indicates via usage that I have 16gb RAM in single channel...................................all other RAM/dim configurations will not boot! Anyone know why, help, and if there is no other option 16gb @ single channel or 8gb @ dual channel? Thank you guys always. I took all the screen shots and overviews.

hmmm, wut? i wonder (in the 2 and 4 config) if it's just windows registering only 8 gb or if you actually only have acess to 8gb. seems to me it's just windows. Maybe try finding out how much RAM other programms see in the 2 and 4 config. Like razer cortex or systems requirements lab.

but it detect dual channel

so what your'e saying is, when you have your ram sticks in the 2 and 5 configuration, when windows sees 8gb dual channel, other programms see 16 gb dual channel (or just 16 gb in general)?

When did you noticed this problem? Was it like this, when you first got your pc?

16gb (2x8gb) in slot 2,4. All other tools reads it correctly, except windows task manager.

16gb (2x8gb) in slot 3,4. Everything reads correctly, including windows task manager, now it's running in single channel.

Have you try slots 1,3? Do you have any more sticks of ram?

Either your ram slots or the imc is faulty. The imc is built into the cpu, that meams you might have to change your board, cpu or both. Look for bent pins on the socket. And use a dust blower to remove any dust that might have gotten under it.
