Tech Job Ideas

406House

Hi. I am fairly young and I want some sort of job where I can do computer repair but none of the computer shops are hiring and I don't want to be self employed. I was also thinking maybe about getting an internship somewhere. How could I get a job or internship?

Well no place will hire you or do internships if you're under 14(assuming USA) but you might find local repairmen who need help or perhaps a tech club at school or maybe just get together with a few like minded friends and make an llc with an adult to sign?

Depends on the question.

"Hi, are you hiring interns ?"

The intent of him saying that is you have to go out and find the positions yourself. Get your hands dirty and call up local businesses. Be polite, but keep looking around.

Doesn't hurt to try, If you never put yourself out there, you'll suffer from the "what if's" later in life when you're doing a job you hate. Weigh the pros and cons of the question, what are they going to say... No?

You'd be surprised how well it works, employers like people with drive since they tend to be productive, worst case they say no.

How is that rude? Jobs are not just handed out to people. You need to ask around. Don't think for a second that a job will come to you because it wont. If you dont ask you get nowhere. This is the real world. You have to make things happen yourself as no one will be holding your hand.

I am just looking for some money for maybe a car and the experience in the field. I'm not necessarily looking at this as a career.

Instead of jumping right to the question of a job/internship, try finding someplace you'd like to work, go in or call (when it's not busy) and telling them you're interested in the industry but you want to know what it's like and what's required.

It's way less forward and people generally like talking about themselves and their experiences. You build a bit of a rapport, find out what skills are important, and they can find out what skills you already have. *hint hint*

Maybe no job right away but they know you, they know you're interested and not some random and you know what's most important for you to work on. You're at the top of the list if something comes along.

On the other hand maybe there is a job or a referral or internship or volunteer hours. Win win either way
