I'm still rockin' my pop's old analog scope. Looking into an upgrade sometime next year (the CRT is getting kinda screwy and there's some noticeable burn-in on it)

I haven't one at home, but at work we have this badass once with 1 GHz bandwith.

It's still way to slow to measure the 10 GHz radar signals, but that's what spectrum analyzers are made for.

 

To do anything but the most simple stuff with electronics you need a scope. Good choise to get one. But can't you fine a used one and save money?

 

EDIT: We also have one oszilloscope at work that runns windows. You can connect a mouse and a keyboard, terminate the foll screen data accusition programm and play mine sweeper

Seeing waveforms. I could troubleshoot VRMs on a faulty videocard, I could try to figure out why my cheap class D amp from ebay sounds like piss... etc

I use my Seeed Nano v3 now but I miss the old monstrosities we used in college. Damn useful. There's only so much you can do with a pocket sized scope.

 

My dad has an old CRT oscilloscope in storage, I might drag it out and put it to work.

Yep it works perfectly, grandpa was very careful with it and I've never actually had to move it from its location due to it already being in the area for working with electronics... Although I don't really know enough about electronics to make it useful yet  Originally he used it for ham radio stuff and then later for whatever else he needed it for.

Ya unfortunately, today it wouldnt be HUGELY useful, if anything else it is a cool piece to restore and have sitting around on display
