Case lighting question

So I currently have this light set in my pc.

It's currently powered by a molex cable, but I'd like to do away with the molex cable in my pc to make it a bit neater. I have extra sata power plugs in my build. So I was thinking I could get a sata to molex adapter, should this in theory work or is there some reason a sata wouldn't power this light kit?

I would assume that it would work.

Ithe seems it would to me also. But I wasn't 100% sure if sata put out the same amount of power as a molex cable. Don't know much about how much power or whatever is carried over each type of cable.

yes a sata to molex adapter will work fine

Awesome, because only reason I used the molex cable on my psu was to power those lights. Will help make things a little neater to remote the molex

It will most certainly work, but why remove a molex and replace it with a sata to molex?

 

I guess if you have a modular PSU and the molex has a bunch of other connectors?

Yea it's modular and if I get the adapter I can pull the molex out entirely and use an extra sata plug that's already in there.
