The likelyhood of UWUHD?

So, we know that UWQHD (3440x1440) is currently picking up steam... but do you guys think there's room or need for UWUHD (5040x2160) yet?

 

Will this become the next best thing!?

thats called "5k" ultrawide and already exists on tvs

even though its not full 5k res

Higher resolutions are always needed. For example, larger resolutions allow for larger or even wider monitors that still have the same PPI (Pixels per inch). At one point though, it'll just make large monitors in showrooms or stadiums better and better while not really helping out for computer monitors.

It would be 5120×2160, and it hasn't really been viable yet due to connection limits, there's nothing that can run that at 60Hz or above. You can do dual connections like 5K displays so far have done but it's more of a hack than anything else. The only reason 5K displays exist (all 2 of them) is as a "because we can" statement, they haven't and won't be given any serious attention until it can be done in a simpler way.

Neither are any other ultrawide monitors in existence. 21:9 is only an approximation. 2560×1080 is 21.333:9, and 3440×1440 is 21.5:9.
