PCIe components

I just want to know if there are any other PCIe components currently available before I go and get a triple slot GPU that I will double up down the line, essentially blocking any other PCIe lanes. I know of LAN, Wi-Fi, SSD, GPU, RAID and audio cards. Anything I'm missing?

Capture cards.

There are loads of little things like usb extensions, but in terms of things you will actually use, you pretty much listed all of them

I am good at computer

TV tuner cards spring to mind, but basically any kind of I/O at all. If it involves sending data, there's probably a PCIe device for it out there somewhere. Like Hazy said you can get USB hubs, firewire hubs, eSATA hubs, all sorts. Most stuff you can get for PCIe are also available as USB devices though (a notable exception being GPUs ofc).

If you do get truly desperate, you can always get a PCIe extender wotsit to fit underneath your tri-slot GPU to give you access to the PCIe slot. Seen that done a few times.

I have a simple question: Is there a PCI-e connector 90 degree rotation attachment?

I would love to put my GPU parallel to my motherboard to leave room for everything else, kthnxbai.

Yes, I have used one before. Let me find a link.

If they were not butt ugly, I would buy them and just use them.

So I will spray paint them and go from there. Though going Crossfire will be quite the challenge now. xD

Well they only work if you have a case that works with it... Unless you plan to use a custom case.

Nothing a dremel and some ingenuity cannot fix.

I may even find a way to rig Crossfire up with it. That would be both sweet and haphazard.

Rotated 90 degrees, a card will cover over 6 slots worth of space so even if you had a board with the first and seventh slots accepting x16 it wouldn't work... You would need an XL-ATX motherboard with a x16 slot in the first and ninth position, and as far as I know there are none... and I don't think there are any double-stacked x16 riser cards either, at least not any with enough width between the cards for dual-slot GPUs.

... Multiple risers in a stair-case shape.

As I said, haphazard. Nothing some double-sided sticky tape and 90 degree brackets cannot reinforce.

Truly, I am a mad man.

Interesting thought... Let me know how things turn out :D

Hmm, I may not be able to do that as there are not reverse 90 degree risers. I.e. where the card is rotated the opposite direction of a normal 90 degree riser card.

Oh well, there are straight 180 degree PCI-e extenders. I can use like 3-4 of those, then a 90 degree riser card. Probably want to make a bracket for it to give major support (it will need it) along with making special modifications to the case to make it possible.

Eh, we will see. :P

You can always use flexible ones, if you can support the card some other way  :)

... But those are so ugly with the ribbon and whatnot. Then again, that might look cool if I paint the ribbons and build a space beside the PCI-e bracket slot holes (in the case) to hold the GPUs.

I suppose I could do it. Eh. It just all depends on how big the 9970's (or equivalent thereof) will be. I am hoping for dual slot cards, but... Volcanic Island implies heavy heat output/power usage which implies large heatsinks. At least to me.
