Deciding on a CPU

Go to solution Solved by Enderman,

might as well get the 5820k

several years from now if you wanna upgrade you will always have the option of skylake or broadwell-e or whatever the next ones coming out are called

personally i would go 6700k though since i prefer core performance and dont really need 12 threads

i cans tream and render fine on 8

So I'm looking to pick up a new CPU, mobo, and ram but am having trouble choosing between a 4790k, 6700k, or a 5820k. I want to use mostly for gaming with some programs open in background and maybe a little streaming now and then. Where I'm at the 4790k is cheapest but 5820k and 6700k are about even because I found a store selling 5820k for $320. What are your guys advice for which to choose

if you dont have enough for 5820k/6700k a 4790k will still be great for everything you need to do, overkill even

maybe save some money and get the 4790k and a better GPU? :)

oh i thought you are just talking about regular skylake processors and there is no benefit with the 5820k with his workload in fact it might be slightly slower

It's confirmed as Broadwell-E last time I saw, but skylake-E could be a thing

ah ok, so its broadwell e that will be on x99 and skylake e will come in a few years and probably have a new socket

Something of that nature but I was feeling that they would just go past skylake-E and do next socket + new name Intel CPU-E
