so i am in the middle of my FX testing... This shot is from Rise of the Tomb Raider at MAX settings, latest AMD drivers, R9 295x2 + FX 8320 (stock) with 8Gb 1600MHz RAM.... The game is stored on a 1TB Samsung 850 Evo....  I play at 2560x1440p

I dont get it, but this MUST be the FX doing something. Look at my fucking frametimes, they are all over the fucking place... This is why you do NOT pair a FX 8xxx with a top end GPU. like NOT AT ALL....

Expect more tests to come. I am in the middle of doing full tests with 2400MHz memory too.

Will disable modules and test it as a FX 6300 too. With single 290X too.....

Just now, TheRandomness said:

Why oh why 8350 + 295x2....

8320.

Because i can...

No really, i used to run a 8320 + dual HD 7950s (R9 280 CF). But then the 295x2 was on sale... So then i bought that. In all honesty, my actual system is a Core i7 4790k. I just flung my FX setup back into my rig to do full testing of it with some DX12 titles...

Isn't RotTR DX11?

Anyway, max I'd say for the 8300 is a 290/390

I'm not saying pairing an fx with an r9 295X is the best idea but the problem doesn't seem to be the cpu. The cpu usage is going down along with the gpu usage and the frame time is spiking. Try disabling crossfire, running just one gpu and see if the stuttering continues.

I could very well be wrong but this looks more like a crossfire stuttering issue than a cpu bottleneck.
