I have a very old Gigabyte  ga-8gem667 motherboard and I use as a home server. The usb was working fine, but one day it just stopped working. Weirdly there is power going through them still but no usb device will detect in windows or by the mb. I have checked the BIOS setting with a old PS/2 keyboard and usb controller is on, so it should work but it doesnt.

Thanks

Try a different port?

Make sure it's plugged in the right way and you didn't jam it in?

unplug and replug it in?

Try a different computer?

I have tried every port Available and I have re plugged it in several times and still nothing. Also I do not have another pc I can use. Any other suggestions?

Borrow a pc from a friend? Go to a library? Gotta figure out if it's the USB or the computer itself that has the issue.

Nothing usb will work not even a keyboard and mouse, and I used the PS/2 keyboard to look in the bios

What I was getting at is if your tried to use a USB keyboard in the bios that worked fine previously then I am sorry but the USB controller chip of the board is now dead... and I believe that board just has one USB controller on-board so using different ports wont work.

Fixes

Sometimes using USB headers off the board can work...

Put a USB card in the computer as they re only a few £...

I have experienced this problem with boards in the past and found leaving USB sticks in for extended periods of time (like running a server that's on 24/7 for months)  kills the controller....
