Graphics card for £250

4M4D3U5

I've been looking for a graphics card for £250, I don't know what to get, I have a 750 watt power supply, so far I've found the R9 290 and ther GTX 970, I don't know which one is better. (because after googling the 970 there are issues with drivers and coil whine).

No R9 390 has better preformance

I've worked with both graphics cards

Only thing that is good about the 970 is geforce experience, lower tempretures and less PSU Usage

Exact models i used are Sapphire nitro and EVGA ACX 2.0 970

If you want better drivers, especially day one drivers. Nvidia features, and less driver overhead. Go with the 970. The 970 and 390 perform almost identical when overclocked. If you don't want to overclock, go with the 390.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

if you want slower to realease but more stable drivers then AMD is the answer.

Don't forget AMD's features - Bridgeless CF, Free-sync, GPU Open, better DX12 support and such.

AMD does not have more stable drivers than Nvidia xD nice try. AMD relies on developer intervention like the Fallout 4 1.3 update for performance increases.

As others have said, not only is the 390 on par/slightly ahead of the 970 right now, it also has more compute performance than the 970 which should hopefully lead to more performance gains when games start coming out with DX12. Add that to the extra VRAM which is always a bonus as games are getting seriously thirsty in this regard (i'm actually running into insufficient VRAM issues on my 780s in some games).

I use both as well (860M and R9 280) and indeed AMD are more stable

It's SUBJECTIVELY better. Being better in your opinion is not quantitative.

I never said the drivers were BETTER. i said they were MORE STABLE. Meaning less crashes and shit.
