650W is more than enough for anything and please don't use that PSU, maybe something from Tiers 1 to 4 on this list:

Also, try get an R9 380 4GB in that budget please. <---- That is, if you haven't bought the parts yet.

Don't get a Corsair PSU.

One of the EVGA Supernovas are pretty good. XFX and Seasonic also make good ones.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

If you plan to throw two cards in SLI in the future then an EVGA 750W B2 is a good, cheap, semi-modular option. Currently your system will use around 120W under load so getting a 700W is just a waste of money unless you're really sure about what you want to upgrade.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

so your saying that i'd be better off with a 550w or 600w?

im thinking on getting a better motherboard and either an i5 or i7 sometime this year

if you get an i5 or i7 you'll still be under 200W power consumption total. I'd suggest higher wattage if you plan to throw hefty GPUs in there later. But for now I'd just suggest an EVGA 500B or Corsair CX430M unless you legitimately have plans to put a better GPU in there. You can upgrade the CPU to an i7 and still be OK on either of the two options I just mentioned.

Thanks for the tips. and im not thinking about throwing in any more gpu's in there for a while now as ive only just recently got the 950. and also ive heard that the corsair vs and the cx series have noise problems?

They aren't the quietest out there but they're not particularly loud from my experience. If you want quiet then the EVGA GQ/GS?G2 550W/650W options are good as well as the Seasonic G-series (550W).

For your proposed setup, any of those units would power your system just fine.

The Cooler Master G550M has the longest 5 year warranty, DC-DC regulated and a relax fan profile where it should be quiet a lower to mid loads. I personally have a preference of recommending an indy / DC-DC regulated PSU as it will offer better voltage stability. Of course, the capacitor selection aren't great (CapXon and JunFu) which may turn some potential buyers away.

Silverstone Strider Essential Gold 600w is an FSP Aurum S unit internally (essentially a single rail Aurum). It would offer good efficiency and full Japanese capacitors, but is mediocre in respect to electrical performance and is non-modular. Unlike the original Aurum that uses a FDB fan, the Aurum S uses a lower quality sleeved bearing fan (but quiet) from Yateloon.

The EVGA 500B and BeQuiet Pure Power L8 530w CM is based on the same HEC platform, in which the L8 will have a better and quieter, rifle bearing fan and modularity. The latest revision of the L8 also uses Teapo capacitors (older models had CapXon). Since they are in the same price point, I wouldn't put the EVGA as an option. If silence is paramount, I would suggest the L8.

thanks for tips man, so what your saying then, i can go for the cooler master one or the silverstone gold one or even the bequite l8, i dont mind faint unnoticeable noises but if i want pure silence, the bequite would be the best option? also ive now got my eye on the silverstone one at the moment as ive seen lots of great reviews on that on youtube.

Yeah. The rifle bearing fan would ensure that there's minimal bearing noises in comparison to the 2BB fan of the Cooler Master GM (may be more susceptible to that tick tick sound of the metal balls hitting each other at lower RPMs), while offer better longevity than your typical sleeve bearing in the Silverstone.

I don't have the actual data regarding the fan profile, so this is just making an assumption, but the higher efficiency of the Silverstone (less generated heat) and the D12SM-12 fan with a rated max speed of 1650 RPM can help with it being quiet. Here's a review on it and on the conclusion, one of the positives is "silent (when cooled properly)". http://www.hardwareinsights.com/wp/silverstone-strider-essential-gold-600-w-bringing-essential-to-next-level/

Alternatively, if you could just spend £10 more the popular EVGA Supernova 550 G2 option would be a much superior unit than all of these units in respect to build quality and electrical performance, is fully modular, and is semi-passively cooled so the fan will not speed up at lower loads.
