Any and all FX CPU's will bottleneck a single 970 in CPU bound games, like MMO's etc at 1080p. (You can easily remove this bottleneck by playing at higher resolutions - but IMO, a single 970 is a 1080p card).

 

Trust me. Do not invest more money into AMD until Zen launches (and even then, that's up for debate).

 

If upgrading, go intel - you won't regret it, you don't have to worry what games will run good or bad, the CPU will run as good as its given performance given the current architecture and game optimization.

• (one 970): if you play many graphic intense games it should be fine but otherwise go for an i5 or i7. the cpu normally doen't bottleneck your gaming performance (unless the cpu is real sh*t)
• (two 970s or 980ti): go for an i5 or i7

probably, with an oc you might need to upgrade
