I am curious regarding Benchmark tests.  When running the Benchmark. will background processes affect the final score?

As I understand it, the object of the Benchmark is to stress the CPU/GPU ,  and collect readings during this process, right?

Would other factors play into this, and should one do anything to preserve the "purity" of the testing?

yes

it can make a difference, sometimes drastically

I'd turn off al nonessential programs and background processes besides the benchmark and your benchmarking tool

To reserve the purity I would close out all background applications. That way the score is more accurate and your computer can focus all forward firepower on it.

Cool.  Thank you for answering.  I've got a mild overclock on my CPU and GPU, and while the numbers dont REALLY mean anything, one always wants to get them just a little bit Higher, ya know.  HAHA.
