Hello guys, I have been subscribed to Linus and his channels for a while now. Finally decided to sign up on the forum after stalking for some time  :D .

I am currently staying is Malaysia and I need some good advice on the pc I am building.

Processor: Intel i5-4670k or i7-4770k

Motherboard: Msi gd65 gaming or mpower maxx or mpower. need clear difference between mpower maxx and m power. gd 65 gaming looks seriously awesome.

RAM: corsair vengence pro 1800 16GB or dominator 1800 16 GB. What is the performance difference between these two? IS it worth the premium if I am overclocking? (approx 4.6GHZ)

Cooling: Corsair h100i, and some sp120 fans

HDD: 2 X corsair force gs in raid 0 (already have the drives), 3 X 1tb WD green , 2 X 2tb WD green

GPU: Wanted to get a Asus 7970 ghz edition but heard rumors of AMD releasing new series in the coming month.

PSU: Corsair  HX 850 or AX 750 might get sli setup in future.

Case: Current choice Thermaltake level 10 GT, any recommendations are welcome.

PC will be mainly used for gaming, Photoshop and running Maya. (Computer science student here) Want to overclock the cpu but not to extreme levels ( not 5ghz).

Guys any recommendations and changes to the pc will be helpful. Thanks.

EDIT:

Price is about $2000. The force

Both vengeance pro and dominator are same speed 1866. Just want to know the difference between the two in performance.

The force gs 128 GB are ssd.

Getting green drives cause i have them already from my dead home server.

As for graphics i think I have 2 X ati 4890 HIS lying around somewhere.

Thanks for the quick response guys.

If its just gaming then 4670k

I would got MSI cause i haven't heard of the other board

Doesn't really matter which ram just get 1600 or 1866 you won't notice the difference

Don't get Green drives they are slow especially for raid, get an SSD

Wait for 9 series

The difference in psu comes down to budget

Level 10 GT cases are over rated and over priced

What is your budget that's the only really important information.

If you're going to do a lot of HEAVY Photoshop, I recommend going for the i7, other than that, just go for the i5, it's just not as good for PS, editing programms, etc.

The MPower Max is a beast of a MB, (owner here) but, other that few more features that this board has, it's just the PREMIUM version of the MPower, and for the GD65 Gaming, it's a great MB, but it won't be a good a the MPower MAX for OC, and since you just want to OC a bit, just go for the Gaming, you will have a less expensive system for perfomances that will be exactle the same as for a $250 MB.

For the RAM, just go for the cheapest one, you can OC it yourself so easily these days that spending the extra money won't bring you much.

(please don't take the SP fans cause they're Corsairs, they're garbage, take Noctuas.)

For the GC, waiting or not, it's up to you, if you need the system now, go for it, but i'd wait if I was you.

BTW, great choice of case.

Other than that you're build is going to be really solid, go for it!

I don't think there is any point in the faster RAM. If you are trying to OC the CPU, odds are you won't be able to go much higher than 1600 anyways. Plus, there is no real gain from having faster RAM. It doesn't really make any performance difference.

You would be better off with a Pentium and a 7770, i mean you can still max games out with 10FPS.

You also can use the Antec Earthwatts EA380D PSU.

I let $250 in the budget for inaccurate currency converting, also you DON'T WANT to use those GPUs, they will be horrible, loud as an airplane, hot as lava and no driver support. Get the 780 instead. I chose Asus ROG parts, because they are supposed to have some kind of GPU voltage lock override, and they look good with the Corsair parts. Those HDDs are fine, if you get at least 1/4TB SSD, they are pretty slow so you don't want your games to run from them if possible.  The PSU is SLI ready and even if you get a second 780 later, you'll still have more than 100W of headroom. You might also consider getting a pair of Corsair SP120s for the radiator, they are around $30.

My rig: CPU: Intel core i5 4670K MoBo: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming RAM: Kingston HyperX Beast 2x4GB 1600mhz CL9 GPU: EVGA GTX780 SC ACX SSD: ADATA Premier Pro SP900 256GBHDD: Western Digital RED 2TB PSU: FSP Aurum CM 750W Case: Cooler Master HAF XM OS: Windows 8 Pro

The prices are a bit iffy too. Bought Force gs 128gb for rm 390(usd $122). The very next week, same ssd from same shop cost rm 430(usd $135). So take quoted price with a grain of salt.
