RAM OC

This is quite weird though, because memory from same family and producent is on vql list and should run fine on 3ghz this kit has problems :-:

Not exactly. While the nomenclature for the ram is the same, the IC's are entirely different. Your kit has SK Hynix, those other G Skill kits on the QVL list are Samsung. Meaning the timings are entirely different. From the primaries, all the way down to the tertiary timings. If you take the time to manually overclock, there is not a doubt in my mind that you can make 3000mhz work, maybe even go higher, but it will take a ton of time to find out what it will take to make your board play nice with the memory.

This memory is not on your motherboards QVL list. This means that XMP will most likely not work. However, I can walk you through manually inputting your rams speed and timings, and try to help make it easier for the board to train the memory properly.

Go to your voltage settings, and manually enter 1.35v on VDIMM. Next, go to the memory page, and manually enter its clock speed at 3000mhz. Then manually input the primary timings as 15-16-16-35, Command Rate 2. Scroll down in the memory options, and look for an option called MRC Fast Boot, and make sure that it is disabled. Once all of this is finished, save and exit. Let it restart, then wait a full 60 seconds to see if the board can train the memory or not. If it fails to boot after 60 seconds, clear CMOS, and we will just manually overclock the ram to a different speed.

-switched to phone- I'm in the BIOS, i have option called dram voltage. Is that it?

Yes. Set that to 1.35, then follow the rest of my previous post.

It switched automatically to 1.36, its not a problem i guess?

Shouldn't be. I run my DDR4 memory at 1.39v 24/7. 1.36 won't hurt anything.

All right. I am in the memory settings but it doesnt allow me to change raw memory speed, however i can change multiplier to 30

As long as it makes it 3000mhz, Then that's fine. Finish inputting the primary timings to what i specified earlier, and make sure MRC Fast Boot is off. Then hope it posts.

I disabled option called 'fast boot' ,changed the cas-tRCD-tRP-tRAS to 15-16-16-35 on channel A(cannot do that on channel B). Save, wait 60 secs and try to post?

Was the fast boot option in your memory settings? It's very important that you disable MRC Fast Boot within your memory settings.

Well its in advance memory settings, with a subtitle'memory boot mode'

Okay, set that to disabled if possible. You should now be ready to save and restart.

Boot failure :(

Now you've peaked my curiosity. Load XMP, but do not restart. Go to the voltage settings, and tell me what it has the VCCIO and VCCSA (System Agent) voltages set to. Something is preventing this from booting, and now I want to know exactly what is causing it.

That is what your XMP profile is trying to set them to? Interesting! Manually set VCCIO to 1.1, and VCCSA to 1.15, and see if XMP will boot that way. Make sure VDIMM is also dialed in at 1.35V. Let me know the results.

XMP turned on, vccio@1.1, vccsa@1.15, ddr voltage@1.35. Reboot?

Nope, still doesnt work. Do u want any  pics of uefi or sth?

It's fine, I don't need pictures. I have a bad feeling your CPU IMC might not be able to handle the ram at that speed. There is a way to confirm this theory though. Remove 2 of the 4 sticks, and see if it posts with XMP speeds. If it does, bad luck on the CPU IMC. If it fails to post, then your ram simply does not like Z170. It's been reported that older X99 DDR4 kits do not play nicely with Z170 boards and CPU's. If you just recently bought the memory, and can return it, Newegg has a 10% off sale on DDR4 right now, so you can probably score a better kit for less money.

Either way, let me know if 2 sticks works with XMP.

Does it matter which two?

U know what, i dont need these 3ghz anyway. Thanks for your precious time and help, but for now ill stick with native speed and let you know if anything changes. Once more thanks for help !!!

No problem. Sorry I could not figure out the problem. Though, I have a strong feeling it is either the memory itself (It's older DDR4, not rated to work with Skylake) or the CPU's IMC is not liking the 4 sticks. Then again, It could also be the board training some very bad timings, but it would be difficult to find that out.

Oh, all right. As you see I'm just a newbie :P What's interesting i could have bought memories from the list for about the same price, but when i was choosing the components i didnt notice any difference (becuz as i said before im a newbie, i didnt even know about existence of QVL list). Yeah, if you want to waste some time with me one day, maybe we'll handle this task together :P Oh, by the way, don't apologise that you couldn't find the problem. U did great in my opinion :)
