I have no other way of describing it. Basically, I recently built a new rig. The specs are as followed: CPU- i74770k, GPU- GTX 670, SSD- Samsung 840 series 240gb, 16gb corsair vengeance, ASUS Z87-A mobo, (forget the PSU :/, its a corsair 750watt bronze certified, thats what I know). Case is a corsair aswell, once again I forget the actual name. Cooling is Corsair H100i.

To the issue, this is, as I said, a very recent build. All of those parts, aside from the case and PSU, are brand spankin' new. The issue is a strange one. The longer the PC is on, the worse it seems to get. Basically what happens is the computer starts to run, well, sluggishly. Thats how I can manage to describe it at least, it also makes a strange sort of drawn out static like crackle sound on occasion, once again getting more frequent with time. Ive made sure this isnt specific to certain programs, it is definitely occurring in everything, weither it be browser, WoW, LoL, Skyrim etc. Its almost like an fps issue in games, but using fps trackers, weither it be ingame or other programs (like the EVGA software), it clearly states otherwise, infact im almost always at or well above 60fps.

I wont pretend to know a whole lot about computers, especially software. *another thing worth mentioning is that the company, NCIX, gave me a new motherboard, as it was thought that may be the issue. its not. same model, same everything, same problem*. It could be that my windows copy is ingenuine? Windows has been promting me and saying exactly that, I dont know if that would directly effect a computer, especially in such a way. I did however just purchase another copy of Windows 7 to validate in, in hopes that that, for whatever reason, is the source of my problem. However, I'd be more than happy to see what others have to say, infact its why I'm making a post here. I'm at a loss, I'd say its hindering, and makes me not want to game at all.

If Windows was not genuine, it would bug you that it's not genuine. However, if that were the case, you'd have 30 days of activating it. What programs are running in the background?

Are your graphics drivers up to date? One example: Because before I updated my drivers, whenever I would move windowed applications around the screen, there would be a huge lag and you could see the trail. Don't know if you're experiencing this or not.

FX 8150 @ 4.0 GHz, MSI Radeon 7850 OC Edition, 2 x 4 gigs of GSkill Sniper ddr3 at 2133 MHz, two 120 gig Kingston HyperX 3K ssds, Crosshair V Formula, Antec High Current Gamer 620 watt psu, all wrapped up inside a Cooler Master CM Storm Stryker.

If it was an OEM copy of Windows 7 (which it sounds like it probably was) switching out the motherboard would cause windows to be non genuine because that copy of windows is tied to the motherboard that you gave back to NCIX. You may be able to get a new key from microsoft customer support if you tell them that you had to return your motherboard. Not sure if you can return the copy of Windows that you purchased though but I assume they would take it back if it is unopened.

I'm not saying I'm doubting you, but can someone please confirm the reliability of this? I've used the same windows OEM key on 4 different motherboards now, and I have never once had that issue. Do i just have the god of all oem keys?

No, this was happening with windows before I got the new motherboard. Ive installed the same copy of windows on several harddrives with several motherboards, processors, the works. Never had an issue. It was a PC builders copy of W7, and apparently thats only good for one install? Ive done at least 3.

Technically it's only good for one install, but the key can be reset.

Google Chrome, ventrillo, steam, curse client, samsung magician and corsairLINK. Also AVG Antivirus

Would you mind taking out one of the sticks of RAM, running the system like normal and if the problem persists, switching the sticks to see if the problem continues?

To answer other questions, yes my graphics drivers are up to date, i checked them manually and it checks everyday automatically. I understand how the graphics card could relate to the "graphical" slugishness, but I dont know what would contribute to the sounds Ive heard. I believe they are problems from the same route.

It may be worth noting that restarting the computer seems to help tremendously. It makes everything playable and all nice, its usually once the PC goes dormant orthe monitors are turned off that once its woken up/ the monitors are turned on (ive turned off sleep/hybernate etc and didnt make a difference), thats when the issues start to show.

Well, since you are having windows activation issues you might as well do a clean install and then see if the problems persists, if it does it's likely a hardware problem.

ugh, Im afraid it would come to that. You're probably right. Are there no other alternatives? I really don't know what this could be. It maybe be worth noting that in my opinion, my boot times are a little slow for an SSD. maybe 20 seconds? My loading times are fast, but I think thats a little bit of a slow boot time.

make sure it's not an unstable overclock on the CPU side as you stated it happens after a "power saving" feature enabled.

I dont think so, I havnt overclocked it at all, and dont plan to until I have this sorted out. However, haswell has a power saving option that I do not think my PSU is capable of doing. Haswell, from my understanding, at idle, can use a very very low amount of power, and only some PSUs have the capability of dropping the power to that low of a state without thinking the machine is off? Not entirely sure.
