I need help, never built a PC before, but I would love to do.

I'm a photographer and need a good photo and Video editing PC.

What do you think?

P.S. I would like to do a little gaming.

Case.................Corsair Obsidian 750D

Motherboard.....ASUS SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK 2/USB 3.1 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU..................Intel Core i7-4790K Devil's Canyon Quad-Core 4.0

GPU..................ASUS GeForce GTX 960 TURBO-GTX960-OC-4GD5 4GB 128-Bit GDDR5

Power Supply....Cooler Master V Series 750W

SSD..................SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 256GB

memory.............G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB)

Hard Drives.......WD Black 1TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive

Case Fans........Noctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm

All is good but get a 380 or 390 instead of 960.

That looks pretty good, three things though:

1. Use pcpartpicker.com it helps you layout everything much nicer

2. I'd recommend switching out the GTX 960 4GB for AMD's equivalent R9 380 4GB.  It's a solid card for around the same price.

3. If you aren't planning of overclocking maybe grab an H97 board and a Xeon E3-1231v3

This is an editing build, not a gaming build. A better GPU probably wouldn't help with that. Editing is mostly CPU intensive.

Seems like a solid build for editing.

 

Might wanna look into similar priced GPU's. Nvidia have a few nice features, but some AMD cards hardware can be better for the price. Not sure that editing would utilize CUDA so maybe AMD might be a cheaper option. Other than that seems like a solid build. Great CPU for editing :)

I still think an r9 380 would be better for the same amount of money, a little extra performance can't hurt and if he does want to do some gaming then he'll be very well off.

depends what hes doing video editing wise if he ever touches after effects having an nvida card can really help with things gotta have them cuda cores man
