OMG :D

I found out I actually have the S5000PSLSASR, which according to the Intel requirements can use the 5400 series... :D

Wow what a relief... <3

So I am Building a server for me and my friends to host games on and so far I have bought an Intel S5000PSL(SASR) motherboard and 8x2 GB FBDIMM RAM from DELL... And I am still planning on buying an XFX TS 550 as a PSU and 2x Intel XEON E5450 as CPU's.

Now I just remembered that not all types of RAM work on all server motherboards and that I could be pretty screwed if my DELL RAM didn't work on my Intel mb.

I have read online compatibility lists but none of them talks about DELL which is quite concerning.

Well I was hoping someone could help me out and tell me if it will work or not.

Thank you.

Why don't you just test it and return it if it doesn't work?

Because it's eBay I bought it on...

The board officially supports 240 pin DDR2-533 and DDR2-677 FBDIMM RAM (though the speed can change, as it will automatically downclock if needed). Manufacturer should not make a difference, and as long as it's fully buffered, the keying should be the same.

That RAM should work fine with the board. (assuming it is DDR2)

Hi santipro,

You said 2x XEON E5450 it's DDR3 and I don't find anywhere an FBDIMM for DELL and it's all DDR2. Can you give use the link of the ram that you are watching? =)

This is the RAM: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=182018549127&alt=web

But I can assure you that the E5450 uses ddr2 memory since it's a 771 socket...

The CPU is not limited to DDR3. The CPU is compatible with the board and the board uses DDR2 FBDIMM RAM.

Do you know what PBA revision the board is? It seems to require E11027-302 or later in order to use the 5400 series Xeon CPUs. Worth checking.

If the RAM were to be broken I'd obviously send it back since eBay has some kind of insurance. Thx tho :D
