bought a headphone splitter today from poundland haha, got the headphone splitter but also got another splitter thing but can't work out what it is? it's a 2 3.5mm mono input to aux output? curious as to what it is and what it's used for? hahah

It's used to convert the output on some devices (notably older devices -- airplanes) to modern headphones which use a single 3.5m connector.

I think its for headsets that have a mic too. One of them goes into the mic slot, the other goes into the audio slot. The headset then goes down and gets split by that into the correct path. Its hard to explain.

It to convert your headphones with a mic from or to a single or multiple port.

 

Lets say you have a headphone with a pink and green connector and want to listen to music and have mic using only one port on the device, you use the left one.

Lets say you have a headphone with one connector but it stills features a mic (like for example Apple earbuds), you could use the right one
