second wireless router

Go to solution Solved by Alterlai,

If you are worried about people connecting to your router for the moment, just unplug it from the first router. You can do all the settings offline.

Try connecting a laptop or computer to the router via an ethernet cable.

go into your command prompt and typ ipconfig to show the default gateway of the router.

Type that in your browser and it should take you to the settings panel.

If you don't know what the default password/login is for your router try admin/admin, if it's not look up the defaults on the internet.

From there you can change all the settings you want and can hook it up in the network again.

I hope this helps.

hi again.

i recently got fiber optic, and got a new primary router, but it doesn't accept the same symbols that our old one did, so we had to change the SSID and password for the new router.

this is fine, the only problem is, the old one now had a different SSID and password. so my brother, decided to factory reset the router. which reset the SSID and password, and now i can't access the router to change anything, so it is open for anyone to come on the network as there is no password on the router.

how can i get into the setting of it. (the same way you would normally use 192.168.1.1) but now when i do it. it takes me to the settings for the primary router.

i have tried unplugging the second router from the network and only plugging in the PC and even then it doesn't work.

how can i get onto the router any idea's?

please help
