So I am trying to decide on which brand of power supply to go with for my next build. I will be running similar specs to my current build except that I will be replacing the GPUs with 2 980 Ti's in SLI, and I will running a full custom loop to cool them. I recently did a power supply calculator and found that my system power draw will be somewhere around 825W. So I have decided to pick from a Corsair HX1000i, an RM1000i, or an EVGA 1000GQ. If y'all have any preferences on which one I should get, please let me know why. Thanks.

I'll tag @STRMfrmXMN as well as recommend Seasonic power supplies. They're extremely reliable and are high quality, even for their lower-end units.

I am also going to swap out my AX1200i with the Seasonic Platinum 1200 and give the AX1200i to my brother for his system.

If you're looking for a specific unit, then I'll recommend the Seasonic X-Series 1050 and the Platinum 1050. The former is 80 Plus Gold and the latter is, well, 80 Plus Platinum. And also they're price pretty competitively to the other well-known brands like EVGA and Corsair.

RM1000 < GQ 1000 < HX1000i

The RM is pretty dated now, so don't expect it to be the best.

The EVGA GQ series should be relegated to more budget rigs even if the GQ 1000 is still a pretty good unit.

The HX1000i is an extremely good unit, that comes in with a usually steep price tag.

I knew I should have gone with the Seasonic Platinum 1200 since right now it's $229.99 USD on Newegg and with taxes, $253.22 USD. But hey, at the end of the day, my brother will get a free AX1200i :D

Okay. You can also hit the checkbox while editing to show why you edited your post. Also did you take my post into consideration? Because Seasonic are incredibly high quality and are extremely reliable as per @STRMfrmXMN. I also took his advice and I am going to switch out my Corsair AX1200i, give that PSU to my brother (He will get a "free" AX1200i) and get myself the Seasonic Platinum 1200. If I had decided to buy a PSU online, I would have gone with the Seasonic unit, but damn doesn't Fry's Electronics stock any Seasonic units, let alone any of the enthusiast ones like the Platinum 1200.

Well I also did read a review of the Seasonic Platinum 1200 on HardOCP and the reviewer compared it to the Corsair AX1200i, the Enermax Platimax 1200, and Seasonic's X-1250. And when compared to the competitors and not themselves, Seasonic beats Corsair and Enermax in voltage control at 0.10v on the 12v rails and the minor rails at 0.02v.

It was over $250 when I checked it, and for that, I could get EVGA's 80 Plus Titanium PSU

The 1600 T2? That's almost $400 USD here in California. And last I checked, the X-1050 costs $174.99 on Amazon.

I mean, at this point none of the options are bad choices except for the possibility that the user will save literally no money on their power bill from the increase of efficiency going from an RMi to an AXi or G2 to T2, but eh.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

For the power bill, are you specifically referring to monthly or over a year's time? Me I look at how much I save over a year and not monthly as you can see a big difference when looking at how much you save over a year.

From the math that I've done, living in Portland using my system at relatively idle loads for 3 hours a day year round average, I'd lose about $1.14  switching to a bronze PSU assuming that the time I use electricity is only at peak hours throughout the day. So for me it would make more sense to buy a lower-efficiency unit than for others.
