What is your display set up?

are you doing anything besides gaming?

That build is an overall mess if you're just gaming

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Depends on what way you'd want to go with the rest of the budget, he could upgrade to a single 1440p 144hz IPS display, or get a nice chair for around $300, or get a secondary display like a 1440p one for productivity

Technically yes but it's far more than you need, and it's an overall terrible buy.

and again I ask do you want a super tiny gaming rig? because that's easily doable as well for your budget

GTAV will look nice at 144hz as well, pretty much every game is going to be very smooth and responsive, you just don't have the color accuracy of an IPS display

Then you should just go with the Xeon 1231v3 in the above build, because an unlocked i7 is wholly overkill and not worth getting. spend the money elsewhere.
