Raspberry pie 2.b

Hi guys I'm looki at getting the raspberry pi 

to try and make a n64 emulator ! And or a portable pip boy to use with fallout 4 

however I was wondering if it were posible to install Windows onto a memory stick and use that as a hard drive ? So I could run Windows off of the pie 

any ideas or thoughts ?! 

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

h110 pull - acer xb270hu 1440p -

desktop windows off of the pi will probably never happen, because the pi is ARM, not x86.

 

that said, take it from someone with an overclocked pi2b, n64 aint gonna happen either.

There is only one ARM version of Windows, the Windows IoT version, but it's basically just CLI version of Windows from what I've read (and if you know Powershell, it can be really useful).

There used to be an android version for the RPi but I don't see it anymore. If you can't find it, I'd recommend picking up an ODroid C1+, it's basically a better performing Raspberry Pi 2 and it supports Android nicely (I have one that my daughter uses in our living room and it's a lot faster than the Ubuntu install that's also supported).

Yes windows 10 works on it. They said this when it was coming out and focused on it heavily for devs.

iirc the android for raspberry pi thing kinda hit the dirt because android natively doesnt come with a single driver the raspberry pi needs, as well as the raspberry pi missing some very key pieces of hardware for a propper android experience. (like an RTC)

The ODroid C1+ is the same size and either the same price or cheaper than the Raspberry Pi 2. Android is supported and works nicely.

Yeah, I think I remember reading that also. It sucks because Android runs better than Linux for most of these ARM devices but luckily I only have one RPi2 so it's not a huge issue.

If I were you I'd just get some cheapo Android phone (Acer Liquid Z220 fits the bill, apparently. It's pretty cheap for an Android 5 phone, but the screen might be slightly undersized for my taste. At least I got mine for free for the project) and build a Pip Boy around that. To add the extra functionality past the phone's touch screen, you could try making a custom interface board using an Arduino or a Pi Zero to send input from the additional buttons. It should work just like a bluetooth keyboard so you wouldn't be really starting from nothing.

 

I'm sort of on the same boat as you on the building a custom Pip Boy and after doing some research that's the easiest/cheapest way I've found so far. Now all I need is a new workshop and about a month to work on it.
