Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right section for this but I figured I would try. I'm trying to link two operating systems so that as an example when I am at work and I can save something to my work pc I can then come home and find it on my home pc. I am basically looking to have 2 pcs that are both copies of each other. Let me know if you know how to do this or if you know a better section for this question.

Thanks

That's not possible from what I know. What you want is cloud type storage. I used Google Drive becuase there isn't much I need to do this for in terms of storage space.

If I use words like probably or most likely, it is because I dislike certainty. These words can probably be omitted and the sentence read as a certainty.

Maybe if you had a hard drive that you would swap out continuously? Dunno.

Oh yeah! You could just store your stuff on the cloud xD Seriously now it's a much better option.

I am using cloud storage currently but I just think what I described would be cool and useful

If you install drive rather than using it in a browser you can have folders that are linked across PCs

Ok then, install Windows on an external USB 3.0 SSD and carry it with you. When you want to turn on your computer just boot from it. It would be good enough I believe.

Do you mean get an enclosure and then put an ssd inside it or get the actual off the shelf external ssd's. I don't even know if this would make a difference but I figure I should ask

I don't think there are any off-the-shelf ones. Probably because no one really would carry an SSD but I'm mostly considering it because a normal HDD would be a lot more fragile.

there are quite a few of these External SSDs and they seem fairly cheap compared to buying an SSD of a similar capasity

Are your drivers going to be the same for each computer? If not, Will you leave a drive in each computer for files (like drivers that aren't compatible with both), and deal with installing necessary driver on each?

I will likely be using one drive on chrome os and then when I need more processing power attaching it to my pc and I haven't thought that part through yet. If you know how I could do this let me know

You'll want to be looking at remote desktop solutions.

Google Chrome Remote Desktop is free, pretty lightweight and works on pretty much a potato (I frequently use it from my phone to access my home PC). It's a 1-click install and there aren't that much settings to speak of. Everything is pretty straight forward.

For storage, OneDrive or Google Drive (or whatever it's called these days), select the folder you want to have on both PC and remember to sync it before leaving home/work

you'd be surprised how well the Chrome remote thingy works on sluggish internet. The phone I use it on has a pretty crappy data plan (in therms of speed)
