I was given a used Laptop an HP mini 210 with windows 7 and Microsoft word, which I really need for school, but it is filled with viruses and Malware which makes it hard to run. I would like to reformat it, but it didn't come with anything. She has never backed it up and if it came with any disks she has lost them. Is there a way to reformat but saving the OS and Microsoft word?

use a keyfinder to get the keys (sometimes the windows key is on a sticker on the bottom)

download a windows 7 ISO

make a bootable ISO 4GB+ USB drive

boot from the USB drive and install windows

it might be hard to find a windows 7 ISO though, since microsoft is phasing it out

i would recommend just making a windows 10 USB and installing windows 10 and activating ti with the windows 7 key

just go to the link and enter the product key (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7) then click verify. It would then tell you if it or not an OEM copy of Windows. If is an OEM copy of windows, then you will have to do something else. (product key can be found by going to the start menu and right clicking onto computer. Scroll down and product key should be there)
