New cpu upgrade

Hello everyone, im planing on upgrading my cpu in my main workstation but im stumped between two cpus, my motherboard is the Asus Rampage iv Black Edition on the LGA 2011 socket.

The two cpus im stuck between are the:

Intel I7 3960x Extreme edition at 3.3 ghz with 6c/12t

Intel E5 Xeon 2680 at 2.7ghz with 8c/16t

 

i am curently running a xeon e5 2620 6 core at 2.5 ghz and you can notice how slow it is, i know the i7 can overclock higher but my motherboard does allow xeons to run at turbo on all cores so the xeon could run at 3.5 ghz, but what do you guys think would be better? this computer is being used for everything so gaming is not the highest priority.

The i7 will probably be better for just gaming but if the Xeon can boost that high then get the Xeon.
