AMD CPU Upgrade? Help.

Hey Guys I have a crappy CPU the AMD Phenom II X4 955 @3.2ghz and I am using the Gigabyte GA-990-XA-UD3 rev.1 Does anyone know what is ideal for an upgrade or my cpu is fine?

If you don't want to change the motherboard, FX-8320/8350 is the best you can get basically, if you're willing to switch both then I can recommend you going for Intel in a majority of usages of your PC

Depends. What do you want to do on your PC? I had a Phenom II 945, I upgraded to 4790k last year. The difference is cosmic. No more bottlenecks in even old games, and the productivity increased over 150%. I still I wish I could get the 5820k, but it wasn't out when I upgraded.

Sorry, but unless you wait until towards the end of this year and Zen comes out, there is nothing from AMD that I could recommend as an upgrade unless its a Phenom II 1066T.

In this persons case a FX-83X0 will clearly increase performance in any game that can use more than 4-threads but in the games using 2 or only 4 nothing will change almost... (more or less depends on your clock speed)

Look, at the moment there is nothing worth actually buying from AMD unless it comes to very specific use case scenarios. Which is why Zen is AMD's last ditch effort.

Not really if you have one of the hexcore Phenom II. With those you'd just upgrade the motherboard to AM3+

Which is a very good price. For gaming your better off with an upgrade to a hexcore Phenom II, its not like it'd be any older or newer than an FX8350. Content creation on the other hand would be better on an FX 8350.

my friend has a tri core phenom (cough) but I have a small channel on youtube and i get temps around 65 C max when rendering on sony vegas with a CM Blizzard T4

Well if the temps does not reach 68c you are fine!

Those temps are a bit higher than what I'd expect, is rendering in Vegas what your computer is used for most of the time?

Tri core Phenom II are more of a novelty BTW.
