Is thermal compound/paste really really needed?

i7, H105, 4.5GHz, 1.15v same temps ;)

Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Corsair H105, Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite, Corsair Vengeance 32GB 3600MHz, EVGA RTX 3070Ti FTW3, Samsung 850 Pro / WD SN850 / OCZ Trion 150

yes, yes it is.... If you want to forgo the replacement every few years I suggest coollabritories liquid metal "thermal paste". It might be dust after removal but it still does its job, in fact its supposed to harden. Its only liquid for the ease of application and to seal the gaps, then it will harden. The only problem is that over time the material breaks down slowly and resistance to conducting heat is increased. That is why you have to replace it.

You are running a bloody 6700k, what were you expecting?? But, nevertheless, airflow may be bad?

What do you mean "bloody 6700K" I was expecting 30° not 40°.

 

Why was I expecting that? Because why would intel release a new CPU that runs hotter than their previous 4790K...
