Rapid mode uses your RAM as cache for your SSD, so it *technically* improves your storage performance. Basically, it writes to the RAM first, then writes to the SSD later, and for reading things it will copy commonly used things from the SSD to the RAM so that it can be accessed faster.

should i use it if i have 16gb DDR3 2400mhz ram?

If you want your OS and programs to be snappier then sure, but I am unsure of the reliability of Rapid Mode if something like a power outage happens.
