The G1 is old, not very high quality. I wouldn't recommend it. The G2 models are a Super Flower OEM build, very high quality, very good power supplies. The GS series is a Seasonic OEM build, and while not Seasonic's finest, are still solid PSU's.

@STRMfrmXMN did I get it right?

G1 is horrible dont touch

G2 is great made by superflower with 140mm fan

GS is slightly worse than G2 made by seasonic with 120mm fan

G2 and GS are similar though the GS is more suited toward a silent oriented and smaller system. Though the G2 has more support for cable mods. ( GS does have them, I believe IceMods is one who sells them ).

Also the G1 is not horrible, it is average. The 1000w G1 for example I believe is actually very good.

I spent the extra $10, and though I probably won't see any difference in my electric bill, the near silent fan is a bonus, even while my PC is under full load.

I was actually specifically looking at the 650 model

I have the 1000w Super Nova G1. It's just called the 1000G actually. It works very nice and I felt it was a good deal for $100. EVGA also extended my warranty for up to 10 years since I registered. Very confident in it. It's definitely not "horrible". However, this might not be the case with the lower wattage PSUs.

The 1000G is similar to the Corsair CS in quality which is still a fair bit better than the other G1 PSUs but not great similar to the CX in quality

Avoid the G1, go for the GS/GQ/G2

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I have the 650 G2. It's near silent, but is also a bit longer than the GS. Also, in terms of quality, the 650 G1 isn't that great.

Noise isn't a huge deal as long as it's not like a jet engine as I typically use headphones.

I updated my post, that wasn't all I had to say. If we're going on Johnny Guru reviews, both the G2 and GS are great models, I'd recommend either. I would probably save $10 and get the GS. When I bought mine, I got it on sale for $80 at Micro Center, but that's probably not the case now. The G2 is the best, but it's also the longest (in terms of dimensions,) and the most expensive. The GS will last you a long time for sure, and EVGA gives it a good warranty to boot (though the G2 has a longer warranty.)

The difference is who makes them.

G1 = FSP

G2 = Super Flower

GS = Seasonic

Both the GS and G2 are extremely solid units and are top-class PSUs. The 650/750 G1 aren't that great and have rather poor 12V voltage regulation, so stay away from those, however the 1000 G1 is different and decent for what it is.
