Posted February 4, 2016 Hi there, I'm a developer and I'm considering making a game, just for fun and to add a line to my CV. Since I'm a lot more comfortable with web development than mobile development, I'm considering releasing the game on Facebook, then on mobile platforms. Now I'd like to know if it's worth it. I do get some time to time an invite from a friend to play a game (which I never did), so I'm curious to know if this market is viable. I found this 2-year old article by Mashable and a few other ones, but I'm curious to know your thoughts. Thanks
 Posted February 4, 2016 Wrong place to ask, tech enthusiasts and hardcore gamers are not the demographic you are targeting with facebook games. It is profitable though. Don't ask to ask, just ask... please sudo chmod -R 000 /*

Thanks for your reply. I edited the topic. Please answer the poll to give me a better idea. I understand that the LTT community is made of gamers for the most part so it's probably not the best target.
 Posted February 4, 2016 I would think that you would get many more people playing facebook games at different age demographics. For example, more 12 year olds would play farmville than 20 year olds. Posted February 5, 2016 I still play Mob Wars occasionally. Tetris Battle if I need to play Tetris. Other than that, no. I usually forget they even exist.
Posted February 5, 2016 No, unless if you want to count passive aggression as a game. *Risky click of the day*
Posted February 5, 2016 So far the results seem off with option 3 losing to option 2... While most of us do not play facebook games, I am absolutely sure that we all know at least 1 person that does. If you have ever received an invite to play a game on facebook, then you know someone who plays facebooks games. Posted February 5, 2016 Might want to poll a knitting forum or something because you're really targeting middle aged/elderly women if you are planning on making a facebook game. Source: I work at best buy, most of the people who play "games" are older women. Older men do, to some extent, but most of them participate in some form of online poker. The only Facebook game I played for more than 5 minutes was Family Feud. That was several years ago and I haven't touched any since. I do play mobile games quite often though, usually for only a couple days before I find something new, but I still put in the effort to look around. I think this is the perfect opportunity for you to git gud at developing for mobile if you're not solid on it.
 Posted February 5, 2016 Nope, I block every game I get an invite to, but I do use Facebook mainly for work.

If people are receiving many invitations, it means that many people play, which kind of answers my question.
