What's the minimum mobile GPU required for VR on a laptop?

I thought it required a GTX 970 minimum... so no laptops

No we have laptops with desktop GTX980s so I would say that one

I want to say the 980 that you can find on some high end laptops? Getting an enjoyable VR experience on hardware that isn't on the bleeding edge is hard right now...

You will likely need a 980m or 980. I believe the 980m is pretty comparable to a 970, so that would reach the recommended specs for the oculus rift (assuming the required specs dont change).

Well either get a one with a GTX 980, or maybe one with 980m which should be iirc on pair with a GTX 970 (best case scenarion) which is the minimum. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't think so, even the 980m is usually slower (and sometimes on pair) than a 970 which is said to be the minimum. I'd say 970m won't cut it. 970m SLI on the other hand...

Nvidia only lists VR with the 980. I don't buy it though, I think they're playing it safe.

That was not from NV, OCulus suggests a 970/290 as a minimum.

Sometimes. We were running War Thunder in VR using a potato, what, a year ago at least? Ran ultra settings with a 280x.

 

But I haven't seen what the little 970m can do, so don't know.

You can compare them below, 980m is between 960 ant 970, with being closer to 970 than 960 all the time, mostly ranging from 10-25% behind 970.

I know, I replied because the approximation was far real world results, up the numbers a notch, 970m is around 960 while 980m is between 960 and 970, closer to 970. :P Just so people don't get confused.
