Wanting Advice for Sound Setup Upgrade

Hi I'm considering getting a dac for my audio setup I currently have a pair of AKG K712 headphones and a Schlitt Magni amp.

 

Should I consider getting some sort of 2 in 1 or should I just get something like a Schlitt Modi, or even a sound card.

 

Any advice is welcome let me know if you have any suggestions!

A Schiit Modi would be a good pair for the Magni. I have the Modi + Magni stack myself with AudioTechnica MSR7 headphones and love it.

Go for the Schiit stack

Clearly if you have a Magni there is no point in replacing it with an inferior combo device.

 

My conclusion is that you should save money on account of not needing a DAC.

You don't really need a DAC and if by some insanity your Modi breaks.  Purchase a FiiO E09K, by far one of the nicest amps I've heard in a while and clean too.
