Storage Config with my Computer.

Go to solution Solved by wyattzx,

Yup, and this is very easy. I actually told File Explorer to link to my Music folder on my D:\ drive, instead of my SSD on C:\. It looks like this:

This is on Windows 10. On Windows 7 and 8 / 8.1, it should be similar.

  1. Right-click on the folder you wish to change the directory of.
  2. Hit properties.
  3. Go to the Location tab.
  4. Select change location.
  5. Add your new location to the list.
  6. Set it as the default location.
  7. (Optional) Delete your previous default location.

That's it! You can do this for any of the default folders on Windows. Pictures, Music, Videos, Documents, Downloads, etc.

I'm currently running 2 SSDs (250GB OS, 500GB Games) and about to get a HDD for my music library and larger games.

I was just wondering if there is a way to assign e.g the Video, Pictures and other media folders to the HDD while the others still use the SSD for quick access.

Basically I want to be able to separate all the large files onto the HDD so I can keep the SSDs vacant for small files and games.

I've seen the 'Location' tab in the folders properties. Would I just use this feature to assign the drives their folders, or is there a better way?

Any tips on this as well as folder structures would be great.

Thanks.
