me and my friend have been wondering something, he has a 4gb stick in his pc, he just bought a 8gb stick,there the same specs, if he puts them both in will he get 12gb of working useable ram ?

he will, because the iGPU uses the RAM as  "Video Memory".

And the Graphic performance scales almost linear with Memory speed.

 

 You can see that in many AMD APU Tests, where they compare Graphic performance with 1600 Mhz Ram, and 1833 Mhz Ram, or higher.

 

 

(Just a Sidenote: If he buys another 4gb Stick, he can have Dual Channel again. 8gb in one Channel, and 4gb + 4gb in the other, makes 8gb in each channel)

He has a gpu so that's not a problem. And his board only has two slots
