I really dont know where this bellongs so I'll just post it here for the time being.

Long story short. My system has been shutting down 4-5 days a week, almost one shutdown everyday and at times two.

I never really thought it would be a problem as some people said its normal. But when it finaly happen to shut down when I was doing important 3D modeling I was furious. I was trying to meet my deadlines and this really angered me.

Now here are what I think the problem is.

The system shuts down at random regardless of software, games (Heavy or Light) and even just normal video streaming to internet browsing.

First my initial though was maybe dirty power from my outlet. (It is a very old appartment) But when the system shuts down my monitors do not (They just lose their display output). So perhaps it isnt the power from the socket? I'm still unsure, but if it is would the problem be the PSU? I use an RM850. I've read some bad reviews about Corsairs RM series, so this was my second guess as the reason behind the random shutdowns.

Aside from that I'm not sure what causes it. Nvidia drivers? Motherboard drivers? If anyone can help me I would be really greatful!

System specs:

CPU: i7 4790k

Motherboard: Maximus VII Hero

RAM: Corsair Vengence Pro (4x6) 32g DDR3 2113

GPU: EVGA 980ti SC

PSU: Corsair RM850

Plese and Thank You!

This is gonna sound dumb, but try plugging in all your cables and let them breath - AKA don't push them into places that might warp the shape of them. My PSU has this issue if I don't give the cables breathing room.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Which ones? The main plug that goes to the wall socket? Or the PCIE 4-6 pins, 24pins etc?

Every cable that's within the chassis of your PC.
