Z87-PRO vs Z87 MPower

Hi there,

I'm planning on upgrading my server on a budget using a Xeon E3-1231 v3, but the motherboard im torn on, The Z87-Pro is a better deal, but i dont really like using mail in rebates, and id also have to have it shipped, the MSI doesnt have the MIR and is local to me, but if the asus is better i would rather wait than choose a lesser board.

Thanks in advance,

Well if you were overclocking get the asus but because you are not overclocking (Xeons are not overclockable) get whatever is cheapest as both asus and MSI boards are solid choices.

PC Specs:

Core I5 4690K CPU
Gigabyte GTX 960 windforce 4GB GDDR5 GPU
Corsair 100R case
Seasonic 620W S12-II PSU
Kingston SSDNow 120GB SSD
Toshiba 1TB HDD
Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard
8GB panram DDR3 1600 RAM
Windows 10 home 64 bit

Well bouth (specially the MPower since i got one) are optimised for overclocking and since Xeon's are locked, there's no point in getting either, so save money and get a cheaper one

I see from your signature you are pushing that mobo to the max as well. ;)  we managed to kill 4 of those at one event and the memory overclocking is not good compared with the Asus board.  However in this case it's not going to matter as the xeon is locked.

Not The first time i got this, many tell me i should crank it down a notch, but you know what, i had real goo d experience with msi boards since ever (had a G45 Gaming before the MP), i did run the CPU at 4.2Ghz at first but it ran stable for like 5min, witch i believe is a CPU Problem, but it's been running at 4.0 for like 6 months now so, call me an msi fanboy :P;), but still, i did see some pretty solid reviews on the Pro so, it's up to you m8 (keep in mind mine is a Z97)
