So I've been looking around for a good 500w power supply that's either semi modular or fully modular because I'm a new builder and I think a semi or a full mod would be easier on my part rather than a non-modular one. I have a build here but I need a better PSU.. any recommendations?

The usual: What about a 390 over a GTX 970?

Anyways, an EVGA GS/B2/GQ/G2 are your best bets with value lately. Seasonic SSRM (g-series) are good as well.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I'm not really gonna be playing too many AAA games, or much games like demanding graphics or something, hell I could go for a 960 or a 270.. but I just want SOME futureproofing if I do get some steam games.. and I'm also kind of already familiar with the NVidia GeForce Panel :) but, I couldn't find any G2/B2 on pcpartpicker, which one is good for me? link?

I'm just curious, but what makes Corsair's PSU's so much worse than other brands?

I'm not saying Corsair as a brand is worse.  You cannot judge a PSU by it's brand.  Corsair does make some really nice PSUs (RM, HX, AX etc.).  The lower end PSUs like the CX, CS and VS use lower quality capicators and have bad voltage regulation.  Brands like Seasonic and XFX both have good quality and good prices.  They don't charge you a royalty for the brand name.

The GQ is cheaper and performs marginally (and I do mean marginally) better than the GS

My PSU is supposed to be pretty good. Silverstone's high end line can be recommended in general.

I have the ST55F-P, so 550wplatinum, but any STxxF-G is also very good.

LOL yeah, I'll go for the GQ :), and I also have a question.. if I get a BenQ XL2411Z, and the 970 card, the 970 doesn't support dual link dvi-d, only dvi-i, to enable 144hz that is.. so should I drop that and go for an Asus VG248QE with a displayport since the card also has a displayport, and get a displayport to displayport cable to enable 144hz?

You should get a card and monitor that both have displayport IMO

I will always recommend Seasonic. I think Johnny guru is the site, there's one that tests psu output and stability. Looking and short is that Seasonic make their own psus and they consistently score to marks.
