Well why are you overclocking? are not not reaching 60fps in games? Personally if you overclocking because your bored i see no point because it decrease your overall card life. Overclocking could result in 10% better performance or even less 1-2 fps, really depends what game you are playing.

The TEMP should be under 80-85 degrees while stress testing in Heaven Engine. It should able to reach ~1400mhz without fiddling around voltage too much.

I have a strix card and I stop pushing it once it hits 70-75, 80 is alright but 85 might start lowering the overall lifespan.

Try using Asus GPU Tweak or MSI afterburner, they are both good programs

Over clocking does not reduce the life span of your card if you do not add any voltage or power target, it makes 5FPS difference without any voltage added and my GTX 980 gets 10-15 more FPS in some benchmarks like Heaven and others.

And also, some people have a 144hz monitor, therefore 144 fps is much more smoother than 60. That is one reason, the other is just because they are bored, and that is up to OP.

When I looked at overclocking my GPU I used Google.  There'll be plenty of in depth guides on there :)

Yes but the fact OP didn't mention anything about his monitor so im presuming his is running 1080p 60hz. Why do you care about FPS in a benchmark .... in a real game situations running 100fps to 110fps doesn't make any difference unless you playing csgo/competitive games which 970 even at stock rekt those games. I just putting in my personally opinion and also some thing he need to watch for and expected OC.

Because a benchmark reflects in game performance, and I said "some" just to give a reason why you would want to overclock. It's fine if OP just wants to overclock because he wants to tinker, why would I get a 6700K with an AIO if I can play all games at 100 FPS anyway? Because I like tinkering :P

So basically overclock if you have 144hz and if you just want to for fun :P

Yes that is true ... in some cases it passes benchmarks but the performance in some games result in nothing or barely any due the game are not optimized.

If you have look at your sig a CX is basically a VS but marketed for Asia.... what your overclock on your CPU than?

Hey now don't make me feel bad xD But yea, at least it's stable. I usually run it at stock but when I am gaming for prolonged periods I set it to 4.7
