Hi so i managed to sell my MSI GTX 950 to a person and now ive decided to use that money to buy myself a new monitor. My old one was the HP w19e and it had some OSD problems along with it being pretty old. my new one that i just bought is the ASUS MX239H. Now on my current system since it has no GPU i went to weird stuff and picked up an old MSI Radeon HD 4350 for $5. My plan is to now use that old card for now until the Pascal GPU's come out then ill upgrade. was that a smart move or it would've been better to keep my old GTX 950 and wait until Pascal came out? Leave your comments bellow.

UPDATE: I actually have a MSI GE62 Apache 276 Gaming Laptop that i can use for gaming. its just that i used to use my desktop mainly for gaming.

so it was a ok decision. Pascal is not going to be out until the summer so you are going to be waiting 4-5 months.

Pascal will take a while, but selling your 950 now made you more than it would have made you if you sold it when Pascal actually came out so I'd just tough it out until Pascal or save for something good like 980 etc.

I think it was actually kinda a smart move because you made more money selling it at it's current worth rather than later when it's worth less. But as other people said, you're gonna be waiting a little while for Pascal...

the thing was is that i was building a computer for a client and he wanted that 950 and he agreed to buy it at the retail price even though it was a week old. he just wanted the computer ASAP since his old HP prebuilt died

Smart move but your gonna have to wait for a big step up. Thankfully you have a back gaming system. I do hope Pascal lives up to the hype, and maybe amd releases a similar HBM 2.0 gpu. Maybe then considering buying a bigger, wider or larger screen with higher fps.

Idk I'm pretty happy with the 23in IPS monitor that I just bought. I don't think I'll need anything past 1080p as I was stuck playing at 1440x900 or 1280x900 my whole life

It doesn't make sense going for a Pascal gpu considering how powerful it can run. I personally won't go lower than an ultrawide if I'm staying 1080p, and maybe go as far as 4k ultrawide if that's even in production.

The LG 29" 21:9 2560x1080 ultrawide IPS was on sale on best buy for like $200 last Christmas.

Yes, as you have a gaming laptop, which you can plug into your shiny new monitor and enjoy it. Yes Pascal is going to be a while away, but you will then be able to leverage the power of the new card with the monitor.

Something Awesome!
