What's the Difference?

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

WD drives are generally more expensive. They've gained a very good reputation, so they can charge more. However, at a $4 difference, it's not because one drive is significantly better than the other, it will just be how the pricing works for the store.

Both drives are good and come with 2 year warranty.

i don't understand the difference between the WD Blue 1tb and the Seagate ST000DM003 1tb..

The WD is 4 dollars more.. Why?

Seagate has slightly higher failure rate but it's barely noticible.  Get whichever's cheaper.

Because it's a different brand and different product, despite being similar specs.

I'd go with the WD, but that's just me; I've seen more Seagate drives fail than WD.

Check this out

It's a bit outdated as WD bought HGST between then and now, but you might as well check it out.

BackBlaze's data is completely useless, unless you want to show how HDDs from external enclosures cope with server environment and workloads. (Evidently not well).
