I'm looking to seriously overhaul my system with a meaty Graphics Card.

I'd like a card that will see me a good few years into next gen games at high or ultra quality settings (I currently game on 1080p, but having the option of 1440 open is very appealing)

My current system is as such:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black Edition (I plan on upgrading to an FX-8350 before the end of the year).

GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 6870

Mobo: Crosshair V formula (Not the -Z edition, the older one).

RAM: G.Skill RipjawX 2133 MHz 8Gb

PSU: Coolermaster 850W Silent Pro

SSD: OCZ Agility 3 120Gb

HDD: A WD 1Tb

I've been very seriously considering:

(Take this as a rough price point, absolutely maximum £600 sterling).

I was wondering if people would be willing to offer insight/advice on this card or any others I should consider!

Many Thanks.

Well there is nothing better than the 780 for that money right now other than a 7990 or a Titan. I would wait till AMD release their new generation in the coming months

In 19 days, AMD will be announcing the 9XXX series.

Wait until then.

No current single card will run maxed out games a few years down the road. Look at something like a GTX 480 now, that's how a 780 will perform in about 3 years. Especially at 1440p.

That being said a 780 or a 9000 series card would be a nice upgrade.

Wait for the 9000 series if possible or consider a 7970 CF/ 7990. The 780 isn't that good of a value atm.

Either wait for the 9xxx series OR get a 7990. The new CCC drivers fix microstuttering and it's a meaty fucking card. And you get £80 or so worth of games with it.

Like everyone else said, you're so close to the 9000 series release, you might as well wait and see what amd has to offer and how that affects the gpu market. Even if you're sure you want a 780, might as well wait so you have all the information at your disposal to make the best decision for yourself.

No point in waiting because AMD will not be releasing a GPU for $200 that will surpass the performance of an HD 7950. AMD will release the two high end cards first @ around $450 and $550 respectively and then the rest of the lineup will follow in the months to come.
