Downloaded audio files showing up in Google Play Music library?

I just got Google Play Music, and I'm already experiencing a plethora of issues. One of which is that random MP3, M4A, AAC, and every other audio files are showing up in my library. I wouldn't mind very much if I didn't have audiobooks on my phone. Is there an option other than just deleting these files that will make them no longer appear in Play Music?

As far as I know, there really isn't a way to tell Google Play Music not to look for compatible audio files on your phone. If you want to use the app for listening to music, then I'd recommend uploading the music to Google Play Music from your computer, then streaming it through the app. I'm not sure what phone you have, but if you have an SD card Play Music might not be able to read the files on there. I'm not sure though since I don't have a phone with an SD slot to test this.
